TRAVEL

We recommend flying into La Guardia Airport (LGA). It's a shorter ride to both hotels, and cabs can be easily hailed there. Plus, the entire airport has just received a multi-million dollar facelift, so it’s an experience seeing all the newness,

While in town, we recommend hailing NYC yellow cabs via the Curb app to get around — no surge pricing and supports local unions. Lyfts can also be hailed very easily from either hotel.

EXPLORE

We’ve resided in Brooklyn for some time now, and over the years we’ve experienced some spectacular spots in the borough. Here are some for you to explore while you’re in town.

Greenpoint

  • TØRST — Where Dory and Nate had one of their first dates, and where Nate fell in love with sour beer. Exquisite tap list, a must-stop for anyone who drinks beer.

  • Madre — Fantastic dinner spot, albeit a little pricey. Inside the Box House’s sister hotel, Franklin Guesthouse.

  • Cafe Riviera — Dory’s favorite pastry spot in Greenpoint. Great for a grab-n-go breakfast.

  • Karczma (pronounced karch-muh) — One word: PIEROGIES. However, if there’s a crazy wait (which is fairly common), Polka Dot and Christina’s are also great options.

  • Paulie Gee's — Best pizza in the neighborhood. Paulie himself has been known to make the rounds during dinner.

  • Cafe Grumpy — The original location. Featured heavily in the HBO show Girls. Really good coffee.

  • Le Fanfare — Classy Italian joint. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time for dinner.

  • Jungle Cafe — Vegans, rejoice! It’s an all-vegan buffet with rotating cuisines each day; it’s also great for gluten-free folks.

  • Esme — Great option for New American cuisine (and picky eaters).

  • Peter Pan Donuts — Mouth-watering donuts. If you have a sweet tooth, you may never leave.

  • The Springs — Funky, theme-y watering hole with surprisingly legit cocktails and delightful decor.

  • Early — Exactly as it sounds, breakfast sammies for early birds, starting at 8am on the weekend.

Williamsburg

  • The Meatball Shop — Casual yet extremely delicious dinner spot. Lots of veggie/vegan options, too.

  • Sweet Chick — Phenomenal fried chicken and does a great brunch.

  • Maison Premiere — For anyone looking to feel extra swanky. Featured often in national Best Of lists. Dory had her 24th birthday here!

  • Berry Park — Fun, upscale sports bar, especially if you’re into soccer (if they’re televising a game in the morning, come for an exciting brunch).

  • Hotel Delmano — Romantic, cozy spot where you might spot a celeb or two.

  • Allswell — Hip bar that’s very reliable for delicious small bites.

Long Island City

  • Top Quality — Light and airy Mexican joint with friendly staff.

  • Sweet Chick — Yup, there’s also one in LIC! It’s so good, we recommend it twice, especially if you’re staying at the Wyndham and don’t want to shlep to Williamsburg.

  • Blend on the Water — There’s another Blend more inland, but if you can eat Pan-Latin cuisine while looking at the Manhattan skyline, why wouldn’t you?

  • SHI — Another waterfront restaurant, only more upscale and Pan-Asian.

  • Madera — Cuban restaurant that has live jazz on the weekends.

  • Court Square Diner — Old-school joint, open 24/7 for those looking for a late night 4th meal or unfussy breakfast.

  • Tournesol — It’s French!
